Taking time to pause and reflect

One of the reasons I started this blog was because I felt like life was moving too fast – it wasn’t that I had a life all absorbed in my career, my volunteer work or simply doing childcare…. my life was full of enjoyable outings and great moments – but that my time to reflect on all the fun was minimal at best. In fact, I can’t even count how many times our family would return from an amazing trip, just in time to get everything unpacked, kids to bed and immediately start up a work week the next day, or I’d return from an empowering seminar or workshop on the heels of Tim returning from a long work trip, and the next morning waking up to contractors ready to do work on our yard requiring my full attention in a completely different direction with no time for pause in between.

I realized that even with many remarkable trips and amazing memories – there were too few opportunities for me to stop, reflect and cherish them all. Maybe, I realized, it is just important to be able to fully take in the fun times as it is to have them.

So I’ve decided that, aside from the blog entries I do fit in, that to make sure I hold myself accountable to taking time to reflect and take in all that is going on, I can commit to wrapping up each month with all the little things I may have otherwise forgotten or not written about. And, I will do my best to take many pictures throughout the month so I have more ways to remember and cherish these moments.
